Jacquie garrett
Chicago is home – I’m inspired by the arts, museums and cultural events as well as incredible craftsmen and their work in the Interiors industry. Every day I find a way to gaze upon the incomparable vista of Lake Michigan.
I love discovering the individual pieces that matter to clients and finding a special place for them. Every single decision matters to me – the details on the backsplash, the edging on the custom pillows, custom made furniture and the seams on the dining room wallcovering!
I have to go places! In my travels from Europe to Central America, riotous color and pattern-on-pattern combinations have continued to inspire me. Guatemala, the country of my children’s birth, has immersed me in a rich world of color and culture.

judy mitchell
Some of my earliest memories include ‘building’ doll furniture out of wood scraps wrapped in fabric and using glass and laminate samples to create the “walls” of a dollhouse. It helped that my brother-in-law was an architect with a basement full of samples! I guess I was destined to be an interior designer from a very young age!
Following graduation from the University of Cincinnati’s college of Design Architecture, Art & Planning, I moved to New York City and started my career in corporate interior design, later becoming a partner in a SoHo design firm. After 13 years in NYC, I decided this mid-west girl needed to be closer to her roots, so I relocated to Chicago, IL.
I joined a wonderfully creative and talented team of designers at The Environments Group which later merged with the highly respected global architectural firm, Perkins+Will. After 35 years as a principal in corporate interior design, I decided to take a divergent, more personal path, joining long time friend Jacquie and together creating Garrett Mitchell Interiors. I love the variety of my career in both Corporate and Residential design. Each project is unique, an opportunity to reflect a different point of view, develop a distinct personality.
My passion is travel, with a goal to stand on every continent and experience for myself the spectrum of lifestyles and design across our planet.
